How to stop my cat from attacking my new puppy.?

Hello, i've got a boy cat who has had the snip ... i got him 13 years ago, and i have a girl cat, shes just recently given birth to 7 kittens, they are all upstairs in a cosy box. On sunday we got a little labrador cross border collie puppy who is about 9 weeks old. He has to stay in the kitchen and garden, hes not allowed around the rest of the house. Soon when the cats get along with him he will be allowed to roam free but not upstairs. We have a stair gatee at the kitchen door so he cant get out of the kitchen, my boy cat is scared of him, he wont go near him but other than that hes fine, but the girl cat will literally pounce on him all her hair spikes up and she attacks him .... she has attacked him twice now, i really need help. I need them to get along.
