Cosy homely colour to compliment brown sofa?

I have a deep brown leather sofa in my living room and black accessories. I have black flowery wall paper on the lower half of 3 walls and cream every where else. I want to paint over the black wall paper in a neutral colour that compliments both the brown and the black accesories (fireplace, curtain poles) also the fire surround is oak if that helps. I'm really stuck for ideas :(
